Podfic - 'Fools of Us All'

Feb 25, 2010 15:53

I stumbled across this story yesterday, and it was adorable, so I recorded it. (Yes, fine, it's an old trope [Wai Halo Ther, 'Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered'] - but it's a classic for a reason, and this both charmed and amused the pants off me ( Read more... )

I've really enjoyed listening to this, this evening, as I always love the way you read stories. But I think there may be a problem (either that or I have a corrupted version of the file).

The recording seems to end rather abruptly with, "I wasn't -- Fine," Merlin conceded grudgingly. "It always comes down to violence with you, doesn't it?" I thought it was a bit odd, as from your other podfics I know you usually fade up music to finish them, so I went back to check against the text, and found there is another short section before the end.

So, um, sorry *winces*

Bless you for telling me - I'm even now writing to the lovely Cybel to see what happened. Hopefully it should be rectified by the end of the day, insh'allah.

(eta)

From the sounds of it (for lo, I have woken up to several such messages, and you are all MUCH MORE AWESOME than the coworkers who sat in a meeting with me one morning this week and completely failed to tell me that my liquid eyeliner had smudged beneath my eye) the last few minutes are missing on the audiobook version, although the mp4 version has the story in full. Not sure about the mp3 version. I've emailed Cybel to ask if she can fix it, and I'm sure she'll go smite the problem asap.

So sorry, though! And VERY grateful to be told.

(eta II: The Editor Strikes Back)

Apparently it's just the audiobook - mp3 and mp4 versions seem to be okay, from what people are saying. Will try to fix this today.

*grins* Glad to be of service! I hate having to draw people's attention to problems, particularly when they've slaved over something like a podfic - it seems like I'm criticising, which is not what I want to do at all! But yes, definitely better to be told than wander round for hours with blotched eyeliner (or as happened to me once at sixth form, with your skirt tucked into your knickers... Even years later, I'm still not sure how I missed an ankle-length skirt suddenly going to mid-thigh-height at the back, or why no-one mentioned it to me!)

Oh my god, you are just the best out there, seriously. The way you read the dialogue is just so expressive, it really draws the listener in! And the tone of voice you use just always seems so spot-on. Plus you have such a knack for choosing the right song to get you into the mood of the story. :)

I often go back and listen to 'Defenders' in particular, because it's just fantastic. Me and my friend RAVE about it :P

In actual fact, I do believe this is the first podfic of yours I've come across where I'd actually read the story beforehand, but the way you read it is still every bit as compelling when I DO know what's going to happen as when I don't! You are GOOD.
