Filming dates for Block 3 in Pierrefonds

Sep 06, 2012 14:39

We have a Locations Geek on the ground in Compiegne!

Thanks to archaeologist_d for her report posted here on LJ.

It now seems that actual filming will only happen for the period Tuesday 11 to Thursday 13 September.

A very short block indeed!

country: france, resources: filming and events info, loc: chateau de pierrefonds

Unfortunately it seems consistent with what the PR said during the press day about how long they were going to be in PF : "a very short stint".

Indeed! What with this, and there being no Block One in France, I'm really intrigued to know what it means for the storylines... :-)

They try really hard to reduce the time spent in France. Do you think the Pierrefonds filming can be dropped entirely in the future, or does the "last ever" shooting in France necessarily mean it's the last ever series of Merlin?

News that series 5 is the last one would bring a record number of fans to Pierrefonds, so I can understand if they don't want to confirm it yet. I'm wondering, though, if we can expect an official word after next week.

Gosh, hon! :-) I suspect we're coming at this from different places, so of course YMMV. But thank you for your interesting speculation. And here's what I think ( ... )

Thank you for your profound reply. I knew it's a good idea to ask you. ;)

"Forgive me if I'm telling you things you already know, they were actually going to drop the whole show before it even began for want of a useable castle."

No, I didn't know that.

I agree that the reason behind minimising the time spent in France is the budget and not the presence of fans. Filming in Pierrefonds must be the most expensive part of creating the show.
