Wow! Thanks for pointing that out!

Not sure if it'll ever happen but in case I'm in that area I'll definitely try to pay a visit!

No probs, hon. Glad to be of service! It's a terrific castle to visit. I'll post some more of my photos on the Merlin Locations website soon. Definitely recommended, if you can get there. And the whole area is just to-die-for... When Mr L and I win Euromillions this week, we'll have to buy a house in the Forest of Dean... No, wait! We'll have to buy some kind of property that would just be ideal for filming 'Merlin'... :-D

That's cool, too. I love ruins. I wonder what they are going to do with a ruined castle. Surely that Solar Block isn't the only reason to be there. Otherwise, they could have just built it on set.

I can see why they are filming all around Cardiff. There are so many old buildings there plus beautiful scenery.

Goodrich really is a cool place, and there were probably a few possibilities for filming, so they may end up going back there.

You're right - Cardiff is central to a whole lot of gorgeous scenery and beautiful buildings, including lots of ruined castles. It's a big influence on the whole look and feel of the show, and in some ways I wonder if they could have based filming anywhere else.

As you're probably aware, most of the castles here in the UK are ruined to some extent or another, though. Which is why they're filming the main Camelot material in France - they didn't want to have to CGI in the details every week! I'll be interested to see how they use this particular location, but they can make things look functional and lived-in fairly easily. Pierrefonds is a few steps beyond that, though!
