Hee! It might be, if you're the current incarnation of Arthur. :-D
Sorry, that's just my way of talking. I used to say that Excalibur was in Speech House Lake, just in case our current Arthur needed it - and now it's in the forest just near Pierrefonds... I shouldn't be so ironic! :-DDD
I was also wondering about the lake. I (same as you) had assumed that although they obviously used the same lake for different episodes (Sidhe, Excalibur and Freya) that within Merlin at least the sword and Freya were different lakes. And for a second I thought well maybe not but unless this is another case of the writers think we're a bit daft: Merlin asked for a lift across 20 leagues of enemy territory while last season being able to carry a dead body for that distance all by himself?? Maybe he had a horse hidden somewhere?? I'm intrigued I must admit. Maybe as a spirit Freya can travel from lake to lake???
I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't link Excalibur with Avalon before now! :-D Though I did assume that Excalibur and Freya were in the same lake, given that they names the Freya episode 'The Lady in the Lake' and in the legends she's linked with Excalibur. In any case, now we know that it is all meant to be the same lake within the Merlinverse
( ... )
Maybe, if the timing works out when you're over here, we could look into how possible it is to be let into the undercroft at Neath Abbey...? There's probably not much to see in there, but the completist in me thinks we should at least try! :-)
