Penshurst Place is a manor house with a heart dating back to medieval times. It is perhaps best known as being the home of Sir Philip Sidney, the Elizabethan poet, courtier and solider. His indirect descendant, also named Philip Sidney, still lives there today with his family.

I had no idea that Penshurst had been used. I've been there several times and love it. Definitely worth a visit in its own right but it's a shame they probably won't be using it again.

Many thanks for the info :)

Yeah, isn't it a terrific place? And I think anywhere with a proper old hall like that is going to be a very desirable location...

Of course it's only my assumption that it probably won't be used again. We'll see! I have been known to be wrong before now! :-D

Thank you for commenting. Think of us and Merlin next time you visit Penshurst... ♥

Ah, I love this place, been there so many times. I live about 15 minutes away and it's kind of steeped on family history for me.

My Great-Great Granny, my Great Granny and my Granny were all married in the church at Penshurst Place, all of the above and my Mother were Christened there. My Granny has an interesting story when at the end of WWII she (aged about 9) and all of the local children were invited into the Barons Hall for a feast to celebrate the end of the war, and of course it was the most food they had seen in years, what with the rations and all. She used to be friends with Lady De L'Isle's daughter, and used to get her hand-me-downs. :)

I just find it really amazing that all my ancestors have so many brilliant stories about this place and Merlin was flimed there! Yay :)

Sorry for the whole "in the old days" themed rant, but it's by far the largest connection I have with Merlin ;)

This is all so very cool! I just love that your Granny has banqueted in Camelot's banqueting hall! :-D

Thank you so much for posting. I trust you continue to enjoy your connections with such a wonderful place.
