I'm not sure what do you mean with "recognisably part of a set". Can you give me an example?

Generally a set is two icons which have the same style as each other - I don't mean the same caps (though depending on how you cropped them, you could do this), but perhaps the same colouring/texture use/font choice etc. Here are a few examples, but I may go trolling and see if I can find some more:
