I haven't seen the episode yet actually, but I looked at caps (I'm a spoiler whore through and through). At the rate he's going, no one will be around to watch series 4 because he'd have killed everyone with his extreme gorgeousness by then. x_____x
Why is there no Gwaine?!? Is Elyan the old friend who comes to their rescue? Is Gwaine just going to pop up in the last 10 seconds? Noooooooo!!! *brb, sobbing on the floor*

If he's not the friend to their rescue I really wanna know how they come across each others paths again. I hope he doesn't only have ten seconds though!
(i shouldn't laugh but your sobbing on the floor made me lol........please don't hit me)

Oy, I'm glad you find my torment funny. *huffs* Kidding, kidding. Though I was looking forward to seeing a new 2-second clip of Gwaine this week, but alas. Such is life.
I really wanna know how they come across each others paths again. My theory is that Gwaine stumbled upon Nimueh's old lair and saw the magic basin that she used to stalk Merlin with, and he's learned to keep track of Merlin with it. Um. That might be more than a little creepy. 0__0

O______O Your theory should be put to test. Like, now. Although being the kinda person he is i can imagine him tracking merlin for good reason and in a completely innocent way but then when he sees Merlin doing certain things under his covers, he does that crinkly forehead frown thing of his and is all like 'Merlin?' then decides to look away but is just too damn curious. Um...yeah
I really liked this ep. TPTB seem to recognize that Merlin must be miserable; unfortunately they had him express this to someone who didn't stick around. Merlin came very close to the OldWise!Merlin you'd expect from (other versions of) the legends. All the things he's been through, the loneliness, it's made him grow up.
I honestly hope that when The Big Change comes, he gets some kind of reward. I mean, the spoilers are vague and we won't see the real consequences until next series probably, but after all this I'd hate to see him still be just a servant shining Arthur's boots. If Arthur can make Lancelot a knight, he can make Merlin an advisor or something.
I also liked the fact that Uther knew about the fight. I had figured they were going to go for laughs and/or evil Morgana by having Uther and Morgana mock Arthur. Instead we got a nice touching moment, with some foreshadowing. It fit well with the rest of the episode, showing that basically everyone is ready for Arthur to take over.
Unfortunately, I didn't like this episode, even with Colin and Harry turning in really great performances. It was largely the ideology, if you can call it that, that I had problems with. But the things I did like were Morgana in all her gorgeousness and the idea of Kilgarrah partying it up in some posh locale and then getting called away by his annoying dragonlord. ^_^
If you look very closely to next week trailer you can see Gwaine (0:14) behind Arthur when he fighs Elyan. There are new pictures at Merlin's Keep, the Knights with Merlin and one of Gwaine that is a dream... http://www.farfarawaysite.com/merlin/season3/promo/3013/promo1.htm
