Syfy to air 'Merlin'

If you can get your kid's nose out of his computer games, the Syfy Channel has a treat in store with its updated version of the King Arthur legend, "Merlin."

I'm hoping that with the name recognition of Anthony Head, and being shown on a network that caters to this genre, Merlin will have more success with US invasion round 2. Hopefully, we won't have to worry about Anthony Head being the sole ambassador for Merlin when people take notice of its leads.
Though, there is always the chance that people don't want to watch due to the reworking of the Arthurian Legend. I had a very annoying conversation, a few months back, with one of my classmates who was all POed since Merlin wasn't true to the legend. I remember looking at her and saying "It's supposed to be a fun retelling." I'm hoping that the SyFy audience will keep an open mind.

I think a SyFy audience will be more open-minded about the reworking of the legend. NBC didn't really push it - heck, the first episode was pushed back by golf, for crying out loud and they did very little advertising. Hopefully, SyFy will push it a little more and people will be interested in it because it's not a straight retelling will be intrigued as to how far the show pushes the boundaries.

Agreed, I remember not even knowing about Merlin until browsing Hulu and saw them advertising the first and second episode. It was only until then I realized it was being shown on NBC.

I found out about Merlin though LJ and one of my friends raving about it. I watched the series on NBC even though I'd seen the whole series online already. I wanted to support it so that it would be renewed.
