There's more Merlin fans near my uni in Philly than my home in VA, I know, but I thought I'd take a shot in the dark and see if there were any other Merlin fans in the Tidewater/Hampton Roads area.

kwylink and I have been tentatively planning weekly Merlin parties as the best way to get the rest of our friends hopelessly addicted to Merlin in the ( Read more... )

I'm not in Virginia, but I'm just around the corner in North Carolina! *waves*

Not so great for the getting-together-and-squeeing-while-watching-episodes thing, but I'm there in spirit!

Awww. Your being there in spirit has been noted. XD

You've got a couple of fans I know of in your state--my cousins in Asheville, and one of my best friends in Wake Forest, near Raleigh?

Aww,I was at William & Mary in Williamsburg up until three weeks ago, but then graduation happened. Now I'm back home in the DC suburbs.

Oh, good old W&M. I heard you got a new university president recently, cause the old one was doing some wonky money stuff and the whole controversy over the cross being taken out?

Ugh, that whole thing was such a mess. It was the cross controversy, and the sex workers' art show controversy, (which was seriously ridiculous, even more so given that SWAS had been there the last two years already and no one had a problem then,) and then when his contract came up for renewal they claimed he hadn't been doing enough fundraising or something and basically used it as an excuse to fire him. Pretty much everyone was furious about it; there was one day when people were having sit-ins and protests and a number of professors even cancelled classes.

I don't have anything against the new guy, but the way all of it was handled was just dreadful.

SIT-INS? THEY STILL HAVE THOSE? I thought there would be loads of that sort of stuff at college, now all the peace rallies have been exported to center-city.

W&M is beautiful and a great school, but it has more than its fair share of drama, suicides and mascots and presidents and whatnot. Ah, well. W&M to DC, the drama isn't going anywhere. XD
