AfterElton has posted their interview with Colin and Katie done several weeks ago during the US media day. There are no S5 spoilers in the interview below (original article with previously seen photos is at this link):
Great interview. AfterElton is actually a gay site. Notice how Katie adds "as mates" (in referencing Merlin and Arthur) just as Alex was sure to add "platonic" when describing Merlin & Arthur's love story. They shouldn't have to, it SHOULD be obvious, but it really, really isn't...
Also love how Colin still denies anything deliberate about the gay innuendo when the show writers themselves have admitted to writing it in. Oh, Colin, you adorable little lamb. Of course "just mates" always look at each other the way you and Arthur did, staring at each others' mouths the way you did...of course they do.
Thanks for posting! This is a great interview. Really loved it. I am one of those people who have always maintained that Arthur and Merlin were the closest of friends, nothing else. Their relationship was that one of brothers who just supplemented each other perfectly. But there can be no doubt that there was love in that last episode. I still maintain it was brotherly love, but I can fully understand and see why lots of people might feel differently.
Does Merlin ever get jealous of the attention Arthur gives Gwen and his new Knights of the Round Table?
“No," says Morgan. "Merlin is not a jealous person, I don't think. …Gwen is the standpoint of the people. She's come from a humble background from servant to queen. She's the best advisor, in a way, that he could have by his side. His knights are the strongest friends he could have.”

D'aaww. I'm glad he said this.
