One of the comments the producers made in the commentary for ep 1 got me wondering Arthur's opinion of Merlin is, as of ep 11.

Yay first entry.

I think every point you mention plays a role. The first thing that changed, imo, was that Merlin went from annoying Arthur to amusing him. Now he values Merlin for the way he challenges him; he is very loyal but not blindly so. I think Arthur had so many people following him around and hanging on his coat tails because he is the prince, that it is a breath of fresh air to have someone talk back. And because Merlin will tell him when he is full of it, Arthur can trust Merlin's judgement.

(a mod thing: would you mind changing the tags to reflect the structure I layed down? Just so similar topics are grouped together. makes it all easier to find. thank you!)

I'd be delighted to, if I could find a structure laid out somewhere...

all I can see in the recent posts besides mine is the one on spoilers, and if it's in the user info I just missed it twice...

Which may be because it's 2116 here and I had some wine with dinner. I'll look at it again in the morning but I'd really appreciate it if you could elaborate / provide a link meanwhile.

I did look in the existing tags, although LJ says there are 27 tags all I could find in the 'visible tags' list was the 2 mod ones. If you want a particular structure it'd help a lot if you set some up for us to use, I don't create my own even in those comms that allow it unless I can't find a pre-existing one that will do.

Afterthought: since LJ says there are more tags than show up on the list I'm wondering if you did make some but they don't show up until someones used them....

if that is what's happening maybe you could make a tags post with all of them so the rest of us can see them in the pick list.

Either way I'll attend to it tommorow as I'm signing off for today.

Yeah, I created a bunch of tags with possible topics and all the major characters. I can see them when I click 'edit tags'. Weird. Anyway, it's no big deal. And I meant to post something about tagging in any case.

I definitely always saw it as Arthur being kind of completely surprised by Merlin. The first time they meet and Merlin's really rude to him, and Arthur laughs: that didn't seem to me like Arthur found what Merlin said funny, exactly, and more like 'oh my god who IS this crazy person who's daft enough to say things like that to ME ( ... )
