I absolutely love Series one Morgana. Just putting that out there.
Not gonna lie, though, I wish Arthur had taken Merlin up on that drinkbecause who knows what sort of sexy shenanigans they might have indulged in when a bit tipsy. Gah, now there's a thought for this week's challenge.
Morgana and Arthur in this ep--and every ep in season one and two--absolutely shatter me. Because their relationship is beautiful, and then heartbreak (sobbing forever).
Oh my, I've just found this comm, and I just have to say about this episode--I owe it a lot. Because the first ep wasn't to my taste, and it made me think I wouldn't like the show--which is absurd to think now, but I was so silly in my youth (of five months ago).
And then I watched this episode, and it had sword fighting. Such gloriously wonderful sword fighting. With like shield bashing (I have such a fondness for shield bashing). And so I said, why not give this campy show another shot, because hey, I can always use more medieval everything.
I owe this episode, because it's the one that made me keep watching. (/sappy and melodramatic remembrance)
Aw, I was the same when I first started watching (didn't think it was my type of show, but thought "well I really don't want to study, so why not give it a few more episodes..." and I was doomed ... that was five years ago ... ).
It almost felt like the first episode set up the "magical" side of things and this one established a bit more of the "non-magical" side of Camelot (besides the magical snakes in the magical shield and Merlin using magic to safe the day).
Thanks! I figure, five months after the first watch isn't too early for a goodly rewatch, right??
Honestly, it was a bit weird--usually, I'm all for the fantastical aspects over the mundane, but something about the first ep just didn't click for me, but the sword fighting in the second really did. Wasn't until the fourth ep, when Merlin is all feverish and casting in his sleep, that I thought, yeah, the magic in this is actually badass.

It's so fascinating how Arthur and Merlin instinctually trust each other and gravitate towards each other.
