When great leaves fall, then winter is at hand - Morgana - G - 100 words
Summary: Gorlois died when the trees were just beginning to turn the bloody colors of fall.
Note: I've been wanting to write a short something dealing with Morgana following Gorlois's death for a while now, and this prompt provided the perfect opportunity. The title is borrowed from Shakespeare's Tragedy of King Richard the Third, II.iii.38. No S3 spoilers here.

Gorlois died when the trees were just beginning to turn the bloody colors of fall. The house became much colder after that. The servants commented on the weather, but Morgana knew it was her father's death that gave her gooseflesh, not the chill air.

Morgana soon came to Uther's castle. The stones on the walls were always cold to the touch; the corridors were enormous and always so empty. Morgana felt dull at night without her father's arms around her, without his beard tickling her neck. Lacking her father's comfort, Morgana's nightmares returned. Sleeping draughts carried her through the winter.
