We like to thank everyone who submitted a prompt! Behind the cut, we have 42 wonderful prompts to choose from.
Prompt #1 CLAIMED FOR FIC AND ART

Pairings: Arthur/Merlin
Prompt:
Arthur’s extremely rich, successful, and charming, and even if his teeth are a tiny bit crooked, he doesn’t think he’s THAT bad looking. So he doesn’t understand why he can’t hold onto a boyfriend. As soon as things start getting really serious they just disappear on him. He knows he must be doing something wrong, he just doesn’t know what.
What he doesn’t know, is that his jealous father is drugging them and then bricking them up alive inside the small wall alcoves in the huge, dusty wine cellar beneath their house. There are now six corpses slowly desiccating down there.
Then Arthur meets Merlin and he’s sure this time he’s found the right one…

Prompt: Arthur and Merlin are working on a horror film. It's supposed to be fiction, but of course the set is haunted, or all the things in the movie start happening in real life, or something like that. Life imitates art! I'm not too picky about Merlin and Arthur's roles - Arthur could be the director and Merlin could be an actor, or they can both be actors, or Arthur can be a stunt man and Merlin can be a gory make-up artist... anything goes!
Likes/Kinks: UST. Tattoos/piercings. Quick and dirty desperate fumbles. Merlin being the brave one when Arthur loses his shit a little bit. Friendship loyalty.

Prompt: Arthur (and the knights if the writer wants) have somehow acquired or are renting/living in/inhabiting a lovely manor house in the middle of nowhere (the definition of which is malleable). Merlin is the ghost who died years ago under mysterious circumstances. The living world, however, isn't finished with him yet, and the person responsible for Merlin's death is after the current inhabitants of the house.

Prompt: Hopefully this isn't too detailed. I'd love a prohibition/gangster era where bankrobbing/moonshining/whatever gangsters are on the run from something and end up at a speakeasy or a bordello that is intoxicating and acceptably safe from any cops sliding in. Is it a Hotel California kind of place? Are the whores really witches? Are they in a vampire trap? Is the place haunted by ghosts like The Shining or American Horror Story? Are there hungry mutants like The Hills Have Eyes? Is the place deserted because there's a flesheating alien bacteria in the bootleg liquor? Are there scary bloodthirsty clowns like House of 1000 Corpses? Is there a creepy stalker or serial killer in their midst? Is it a weird cult into human sacrifice or purifying sinners via torture? What's really going on in there - it's at the writer/artist's discretion.

Prompt: The spirits of the sorcerers and magical creatures that Merlin has killed over the series rise/are risen by someone to haunt Merlin and slowly drive him mad. Perhaps the intention is to kill two birds with one stone by causing Merlin to inadvertently kill Arthur in his insanity? Bonus horror points if the spirits come to him in the form of possessed, animated dolls or toys. Or Puppets! (scariest thing EVER!) I know it's horror so that doesn't lend itself to the happiest of endings, but it would be awesome if things turned out somewhat ok.

Additional comments: It just seems like Merlin's done more killing of magic than saving it and I think magic wouldn't be too happy with that.

Prompt: So, no mortal has ever survived the touch of the dorocha, but Merlin managed, with some help, implying that he's not entirely mortal, but since he needed help, maybe he's not entirely not-mortal either. Here's the prompt: Merlin didn't escape his encounter with the dorocha as unscathed as he thought. A while after his near-death, Merlin discovers that something's not right. He's still himself, but his body seems to be slowly decaying and falling apart. Not like a zombie, but like...not regenerating itself. This can go humor-horror, or just plain freaky. Injuries don't heal, he's maybe starting to smell, and all the while he's fully aware of what's happening and has no power to stop it.

Additional comments: If you know the movie "Death Becomes Her" That's part of the inspiration for this. Essentially immortality gone wrong.

Prompt: The Valley of the Fallen Kings. That is a very ominous name, and the place is supposed to be cursed, yet I don't recall the series giving us any details on how or why. There is a prompt hidden there, methinks. Arthur has scoffed the curse of the valley since the first time they traveled through it, and since, has made it a regular route for himself and his knights. That was when he was still a prince. Once Arthur becomes King, the curse goes active, and he learns first-hand how the Valley earned its name.

Prompt: While Arthur has been reincarnated time and time again, Merlin lives an unending existence, which is slowly driving him insane. The wait between Arthur's lives and the loneliness between unhinges him. When Merlin finds Arthur in his new incarnation, he is only in his teens. Unwilling to wait and quite mad with longing, Merlin kidnaps the boy. It's up to the author if this has a happy ending.

Prompt: (Can be set in medieval times or modern AU) Camelot is in a state of panic; the mutilated corpses of tortured citizens are turning up all over the city, and it's eventual determined that it can only be the work of a Blood Mage, a sorcerer who draws their power from pain and death. The writer, if anyone picks this up, can take it from there. ;)
Likes/Kinks: Not sure if this really qualifies, but I think it'd be in keeping with the "horror/suspense" part if sociopath!Merlin turned out to be the Blood Mage in the end.
Dislikes/Squicks: Just keep age ranges in something that WON'T get the group on an FBI watch list. Basically, anyone in a pairing should be at least sixteen, preferably seventeen. NO SCAT. I cannot stress that enough. Other than that, go for it.

First the little things, then memories, then left only with the memory that something great is now missing. Merlin and Morgana, trapped and altered by their own power; Arthur, become Once and Future King but lost as a man; the knights as sentinels, chess pieces; Camelot and Avalon, merely bitter words.
Likes/Kinks: Contrast between great power/fulfilling destiny and dehumanization.

Arthur is a professional adventurer, unafraid of exploring supernatural sites. He has spent his whole life distancing himself from his father, Uther, who has been branded a vampire conspiracy theorist (e.g. writes something like Bram Stoker's Dracula, campaigns and crusades against it and loses his title/society standing).
Arthur has no interest in vampires until a mysterious gentlemen arrives at his doorstep and asks for his help. Merlin seems wiser than his years let on; he is friend/servant to Gwaine, who is in danger from the vampires Arthur refuses to acknowledge. As a friend of Gwaine, Arthur agrees to accompany Merlin to Castle Dracula (or similar), and is drawn into supernatural power struggles and mind games.
(Bonus points everyone being part supernatural and coming to terms with it. Merlin as immortal/magic personified, Gwaine the werewolf, Arthur part vampire royalty? Extra bonus points if Merlin has tried to protect Arthur/the knights throughout the ages.)
Likes/Kinks: Great displays of power, coming into one's power, making difficult decisions, team bonding, learning to cope with a new "self" (supernatural changes). Threesomes/moresomes okay. Byronic heroes and self-sacrifice especially appreciated.

Prompt: "Once upon a midnight dreary..." That's right. I'm looking for a version of "The Raven" as experienced by...Uther Pendragon. Doesn't have to be in rhyme, doesn't even have to have a raven, but I'm thinking of Uther descending into madness just after the death of his beloved. This could go AU or canon even. Maybe the events of this story are the final straw that broke him and led to the Great Purge. I dunno. Claimer's call. Have fun with it >:)

Additional comments: It wasn't until I read The Raven carefully that I realized just how creepy a story it is. I think Uther would be the perfect star for a retelling of such a tale.

Unfortunately,the Mirrorverse is not a nice place- alternate Merlin and Arthur are not nice people, and they'll show him all the ways he can get rid of Gwen...vampires, zombies, werewolves, grisly magical murder, oh my!

Prompt: Future!CannonAU (Arthur knows of Merlin's magic), Arthur, Merlin, and assorted Knights get transported to a maze full of killer creatures, deadly traps, and other groups (Rival knights, bandits, trolls?, whomever) trying to survive and beat each other. The maze renders Merlin's magic useless, leaving Arthur and the knights to fend off the horrors of the maze, until they reach the end and it's up to Merlin and his returned magic to defeat the sorcerer(s) responsible for the maze in the first place.

Once Arthur brings him home/whatever - weird things start to happen, things he can't explain. Is the child evil, or possessed or is something else going on? Does Merlin hold the answer, or is he the dangerous one?

Prompt: Current S3 or end of S4 Merlin somehow ends up in the future (~10 years ahead), where Albion is united in peace but something is off... which he figures out when he meets his future!self, who has been consumed by the darkness - having "fulfilled" his destiny, future!Merlin (~Emrys, but NOT Dragoon) now makes up excuses for employing his magic "in the name of Camelot" and takes advantage of his influence on the king and the kingdom, having the last word in everything that happens at court or outside. He is drunk on his power but is of course not aware of doing anything wrong, the good fortune of Camelot still being his goal in his mind. Young Merlin is confronted by the atrocities of his future self and he is desperate to go back to his own timeline and change things, but for that he needs the help of the most powerful warlock alive... which is himself.
Whether it's an actual time travel or just an illusion, who initiates Merlin's appearance in the future, how gruesome future!Merlin is, whether he has romantic relationships or allies is all up to the writer, I'm mainly interested in the confrontations that'd happen inside Merlin in such situation, both older and younger one.

Prompt:
No one talks about the Wild Hunt except in terrified whispers behind cupped hands, because what should be nothing but a myth is anything but. No one knows how they emerged or how to make them go away, but every year, for one night, the Wild Hunt terrorizes countryside and cities alike, taking with them whoever they find in their path.
As more and more people disappear, their spirits taken by the Wild Hunt, the more desperate things become. Many men have been charged with the responsibility to stop the chase, and many men never returned home. This year, the honour of the attempt falls to Arthur and his men, and they're going to begin with a hunt of their own -- for the man who lived through an encounter with the Wild Hunt -- to learn for themselves the secret of his survival.
Except it was never survival that saved Merlin from the Wild Hunt. It was escape, and the Wild Hunt will never end until they once again have their prisoner.

Prompt: Despite common misconception, as a reaper Arthur doesn’t really have any ill will towards human beings. He just does his job, that’s it, no hard feelings. However, he does have a problem when those who should stay dead come back as ghouls and devour the living. Not only does it throw the whole balance of life and death off, his ability to reap properly is called into question by the higher-ups. So now he’s forced to investigate the cause with the one man who has ever been able to escape Arthur’s scythe: Merlin.

What he doesn’t know, is that his jealous father is drugging them and then bricking them up alive inside the small wall alcoves in the huge, dusty wine cellar beneath their house. There are now six corpses slowly desiccating down there.
Then Arthur meets Merlin and he’s sure this time he’s found the right one…

Is it a Hotel California kind of place? Are the whores really witches? Are they in a vampire trap? Is the place haunted by ghosts like The Shining or American Horror Story? Are there hungry mutants like The Hills Have Eyes? Is the place deserted because there's a flesheating alien bacteria in the bootleg liquor? Are there scary bloodthirsty clowns like House of 1000 Corpses? Is there a creepy stalker or serial killer in their midst? Is it a weird cult into human sacrifice or purifying sinners via torture? Prompt: So, no mortal has ever survived the touch of the dorocha, but Merlin managed, with some help, implying that he's not entirely mortal, but since he needed help, maybe he's not entirely not-mortal either. Here's the prompt: Merlin didn't escape his encounter with the dorocha as unscathed as he thought. A while after his near-death, Merlin discovers that something's not right. He's still himself, but his body seems to be slowly decaying and falling apart. Not like a zombie, but like...not regenerating itself. This can go humor-horror, or just plain freaky. Injuries don't heal, he's maybe starting to smell, and all the while he's fully aware of what's happening and has no power to stop it.

That was when he was still a prince. Once Arthur becomes King, the curse goes active, and he learns first-hand how the Valley earned its name.

Arthur has no interest in vampires until a mysterious gentlemen arrives at his doorstep and asks for his help. Whether it's an actual time travel or just an illusion, who initiates Merlin's appearance in the future, how gruesome future!Merlin is, whether he has romantic relationships or allies is all up to the writer, I'm mainly interested in the confrontations that'd happen inside Merlin in such situation, both older and younger one.

No one knows how they emerged or how to make them go away, but every year, for one night, the Wild Hunt terrorizes countryside and cities alike, taking with them whoever they find in their path.
As more and more people disappear, their spirits taken by the Wild Hunt, the more desperate things become. Many men have been charged with the responsibility to stop the chase, and many men never returned home. This year, the honour of the attempt falls to Arthur and his men, and they're going to begin with a hunt of their own -- for the man who lived through an encounter with the Wild Hunt -- to learn for themselves the secret of his survival.
Except it was never survival that saved Merlin from the Wild Hunt. It was escape, and the Wild Hunt will never end until they once again have their prisoner.

Prompt: Despite common misconception, as a reaper Arthur doesn’t really have any ill will towards human beings. He just does his job, that’s it, no hard feelings. However, he does have a problem when those who should stay dead come back as ghouls and devour the living. Not only does it throw the whole balance of life and death off, his ability to reap properly is called into question by the higher-ups. So now he’s forced to investigate the cause with the one man who has ever been able to escape Arthur’s scythe: Merlin.
