Welcome to our community! We are focused on celebrating the birthdays of Merlin slash fans all over livejournal. What better way to celebrate your birthday than by being showered with fandom presents?!!
I must first and foremost give credit and praise to wendypops for coming up with this brilliant idea. If you are part of the Potter fandom check out her orginal community, hd_gifts (focused on Harry/Draco). Also a big thank-you to her for sharing the love across livejournal and allowing us to use this fantastic idea in our own fandom. Also a big thank-you to my co-mod wolfangeldeathfor being so enthusiastic and helping me get this community off the ground, as well as making our mod icon.
The focus of the community is gift giving. If you choose to participate in the community you don't have to create a birthday gift for every single member, but we do encourage you to write or draw or make something for at least two people every year. If every person who signs up to receive a gift makes at least two, in theory there should be enough gifts to go around.
Gifts can be absolutely anything, so long as they include a slash pairing; fic, art, drabbles, icons, banners, whatever you feel like making. Or if you are not that kind of creative, then perhaps an in depth comment on the recipient's contribution to the Merlin fandom; how and why you love their fic or art, why the fandom is better with them here and how it wouldn't be the same if they weren't. And don't forget to wish them a happy birthday!
We want merlin_gifts to be open to every Merlin slash fan on livejournal, for everyone to be able to take part in whatever way they can. There will be no assignments; this is very informal! We just want you to have fun and enjoy getting slashy fandom presents on your birthday!!
