Notes: (brace yourselves) So this is my second entry for this fest, and I am quite okay with how it turned out, Idk? I mean, it's nothing super fancy, but like. Anyway, the prompt was for Gwaine wearing Merlin's neckerchief, and I was originally gonna go with that and stick with the prompt, I mean, it's cute, right? But then I somehow made it a bit angsty??? Oops??? Idek how I did it, don't ask. It's a two-panel piece, the first one shows Gwaine before he becomes a knight wearing Merlin's neckerchief the way Merlin wears it, the second one is Gwaine, years later, when he's already a knight, wearing it tied around his arm the way Medieval knights wore a lady's favour for luck (and to show off, like, lbr).
Like, I think this is proof that I'm supposed to be a writer, not a visual artist, because I actually came up with a story to go with it?? [read more]Like, bear with me for a second, yes, when Merlin and Gwaine first meet, they hook up and it's all fun and great, but Gwaine's Gwaine, right, and he has to leave Camelot right after that anyway, so Merlin figures it was just a little fun, no big deal to Gwaine. But before Gwaine leaves, he takes the neckerchief Merlin wore when they met and wears it as he leaves, and Merlin thinks it's just Gwaine teasing him, but actually Gwaine really liked Merlin and he wanted something to remember him by because he thought he'd never see him again. And then, ofc, shenanigans, and they do obviously meet again, but because they both think the other is not interested, neither of them does anything. And Gwaine is knighted and he starts fighting alongside Arthur and he sees how Merlin and Arthur are, so he stays away from Merlin, sort of just being friends with him even though he really loves him. But then Arthur and the knights have to go into this huge battle where they will probably die and Gwaine can't resist wearing Merlin's neckerchief because he knows he's gonna die and that's the only way he can have Merlin somehow close to him, so he digs it out from some gods forsaken box where he's been keeping it and he ties it around his arm because he doesn't want anyone else's favour, only Merlin's, and he rides to battle like that and Merlin only finds out then how much he means to Gwaine and Idk, that's about all I've got.
I'm sorry for the mile long notes? And all the question marks, it's Tumblr's fault, I swear.
