Three ripped off finger nails, bruised shins, a bitten tongue, dry hands, and not enough sleep: that's apparently what it costs to take apart an entire life apartment and fit it into three suitcases

AHHH, I missed you! (Actually, I thought you were already... moving. Glad I still have a chance to wish you lots of luck. :D)
And the bit about frustrated friends made me LOL, actually. I'm a bad person.
Sometimes I suspect that I'm just too much of a nerd to be a dedicated scholar. But I guess as long as my professors don't realize that, I'm all good. Eh, story of my life. Oh well.
And the bit about frustrated friends made me LOL, Hehe, it was quite funny, actually. I kept saying: "You know, you don't *have* to help me!", and they were like: "Oh, please give me something to smash! Please let me clean your windows! I don't even care what you need me to do, just please distract me!"
The new Sherlock has eaten my brain. It's like someone wrote a modern AU fanfic of Sherlock Holmes, isn't it?
or just need someone to complain to how you miss the german bread Haha, it's funny you'd mention the bread, because people keep asking me: "Aren't you going to miss the bread?", and I'm always like: "Uh, I don't even usually eat bread, so no, probably not ..." Thing is, I love bagels and scones and wraps, so I think I'll be good. Of course, that doesn't mean there won't be a couple of things I will miss. Tiled bathrooms, for example.
OH, you mean on the walls! Oh, well. I DID miss the bread and my fibres. And the chocolate, but by now I have been educated that there is decent chocolate in the US to be found. It's just more expensive and not to be found in the supermarket :)
Hey, I just saw this as I was compiling the newsletter and wanted to say good luck! I'm in the middle of a move myself, although going in the opposite direction (US->Europe.)
THREE SUITCASES. I am incredibly impressed Haha, me too, actually :))) I'm pretty sure I'll have to pay an excess baggage charge because the suitcases are so heavy. Aren't you going to move to HK soon? When are you leaving?
I plan on leaving on August 22nd or so. My student visa is still processing so I'm a little worried... but I plan on taking two suitcases (one packed, the other almost empty) to Hong Kong. Crossing my fingers! :D
Sherlock Holmes? How did I not know of this? Hehe, thank God for my f-list, otherwise I'd have missed it too. Trust them to always keep me informed on everything that's really important in life :) But you should definitely check it out, because it's like someone made a tv show out of a modern AU Sherlock Holmes fanfic! I'm not kidding!

Anyway, good luck with this new chapter of your life!
If you get homesick or just need someone to complain to how you miss the german bread I'm here.
I spent a year as Au Pair in MAryland so I can't quite relate (as I knew I would go back home), but maybe a bit...
Have a safe flight and a great big adventure!
