Kitten Bath Woes

Mar 19, 2013 10:20

A few days ago the idea of a bath for the kitten came up. Just as we were talking about it, Artemis emerged from his many hiding places, his back arched and his tail puffed out. Seems like the kitten knew what we were talking about ;) Artemis does not enjoy baths and he kept on giving me beseeching stares, as if asking why I was torturing with all ( Read more... )

I usually do a recipe the way it is written the first time through to have an idea of the taste and then start playing with it after that.

Poor kitty! Baths are evil.

Depends on the recipe for me. If it is something new I'm cooking (new spices, ingredients) I tend to follow the recipe more closely. Or if it is particularly complex (though I tend to make fairly easy dishes so that doesn't come up too often). Once I have a handle on the taste of something, I find it easier to modify/substitute. Sometimes with a recipe, if it includes something I dislike, I substitute.

He certainly thinks so! He's recovered now though :)

I do the substitute thing as well if there are things that I absolutely will not eat.

Do you let Artemis go outside? I've never bathed my girls, but they stay indoors all the time. Tigger likes being near a bathtub filled with water, but she doesn't like to get wet.

Oh, that recipe looks so good! I'm too lazy to try it, but I'll bet it tasted great. I like when online recipes have comments. I always look at them to see if I need to adjust anything.

He has been out once or twice when we were visiting people who had a backyard. Otherwise he is an indoor kitten. There isn't a backyard here. There are two balconies but even the 'ground floor' is a few metres off the ground and since he was so tiny when we got him, we didn't want to lose him if he went over the edge. The family cat, Xena was an outside cat and got bathed a few times a year. Mostly in on hot summer days when he she appreciated the cool!

It was quite delicious! Definitely making it again :) The main work was the chopping, but other than that it wasn't too much work. I always seem to pick recipes that take about an hour (what with chopping + cooking). Since this recipe involved simmering, I wasn't in front of the stove always! Other than a standard stir fry though. That is a pretty quick meal. On the other hand, lunch and breakfast tend to be quick affairs for me.
