Finally, winter.

It's been one weird winter so far this year. We've had five inches of snow all season. Five! Normally by now we should have had more like fifty ( Read more... )

I love/hate those ideas, for those reasons. *eagerly anticipates*

It's so hard because when I get these ideas I want to MAKE the thing while it's fresh in my head, while I'm all excited. But now I have to waaaaaaaiiiiit. And it is exceedingly frustrating.

I hear you on the weird weather. All my friends in the north are panicking that their poor plants are trying to wake up early...and meanwhile, down here in the South, nothing's bothering to go to sleep. I have plants that have doubled in size since November, and whenever we get a hard freese, I have to go out and throw wastebaskets over the lettuce.

I dunno if it's climate change or just weird weather, but it sure is something.

This is so far beyond normal for this time of year...I don't even know how it can be anything but global climate change, since it seems to be affecting Europe too. And it's not a la Nina year anymore so that excuse can't be used. :/ I am worried about the storms well have this spring, really. Not so much right here because the lake protects us, but the rest of the northeast is in for it I bet.

We finally have snow. Everything is bright and pretty....I have to say I much prefer it to the gray and the mud, and Kiba can't wait to go out hiking in it.

We've never in my life not had snow by January. I think it's only ever happened once that we didn't have any come the Xmas break. This year is no exception, though it HAS been very mild, most days. (A few stunningly cold ones have snuck in along the way, though.)

Is the idea another in the steampunk line, or something using the other idea?

We've had cold snaps that last for, like, a day. Then right back into mild temps. But at least we finally have some healthy looking snow out there, and everything is bright and pretty.

Oh this new idea...! It's sort of steam punk, but no goggles. Remember the "GearWing" design I did, a while back? It frustrated me because I designed these huge fan-like wings but really, they twisted and flopped too much because they weren't supported by anything. Well, I found the PERFECT way to support them. :). So I'm working on something similar and it's going to be, well, pretty darn cool.

Are you using some kind of blade or metal slat instead of leather for the fan segments? Or is it specifically about the support?

I'll have to call you or something...it is such a simple, perfect idea that no doubt it will be copied a hundred times but not until I do it first! :)
