Well I had my birthday on Saturday and it was a really nice day. :)

Texting with Char makes things cozy and not so far-away. Yesterday I was texting pics of the river while I was kayaking on it, and she was texting pics of her snowy campus...it was fun.

Kiba looks great staring beyond the ghost. I hope he does well with the tooth cleaning.
And yes, I think a few days with your feet up is a good idea before the holiday ordering begins. Enjoy them & the weather.

I'm also really happy to hear you are living more for you now. It's a very healthy approach to having your only child leave for college. And I know (from my own mother) that it is hard to let go and try to regain some of your own independence.

I think it hasn't been a difficult transition for a few reasons. I only have the one child. She was already fiercely independent to begin with. And, very importantly, I have a busy, full life beyond motherhood. I have so many interests and such a busy career...I hardly have time to sit and miss the kid.
