Birthday and Halloween 2011

Nov 02, 2011 12:55

Well I had my birthday on Saturday and it was a really nice day.  :)

Charlotte arranged to have a birthday cake made for me.  She knows my favorite cake is from a bakery in Amherst called "The Dessert Deli"...they made our wedding cake.  They do a cake called a "Neopolitan", like the ice cream.  It's a layer of white cake, a layer of chocolate, ( Read more... )

Happy belated birthday! I hope it was wonderful. ^_^ That cake looks delicious. The Day the Earth Froze is totally one of my very favorite MST3K. All the Russo-Finnish epics were so good!

I think it's okay to not be sad. I think it's wonderful that you're so proud and supportive, and it's only going to have a positive effect on both your mental health and your relationship with Charlotte. ^_^

"The Day The Earth Froze" is so made of win. It has all my favorite riffs in it including the Bullwinkle boat ("could somebody help me? I seem to be on fire!") and it starts with my favorite "Minnewegian" sketch ("oh it's so ding dang cold all the stuff in my nose froze right up...so then we saw where they was closin' all the schools..."). I crack up every time and I think I've watched that one a hundred times. :)

Texting with Char makes things cozy and not so far-away. Yesterday I was texting pics of the river while I was kayaking on it, and she was texting pics of her snowy campus...it was fun.

Kiba seems to enjoy almost everything (except, surely, the tooth-cleaning he will endure tomorrow).

Char was so cute. I think she was more upset than I was, that she wasn't here for my B-day. She called me three times on Saturday. :)

Happy Birthday!! (belated) I am glad to hear it was a good one.

Kiba looks great staring beyond the ghost. I hope he does well with the tooth cleaning.

And yes, I think a few days with your feet up is a good idea before the holiday ordering begins. Enjoy them & the weather.

Thank you! Yes, I had a very nice day (a few of them in a row, in fact).

Kiba is such a cutie...I hope he does well with the tooth cleaning too. I fret over that dog like an old mama goose.

I'm glad you had such a great birthday! That cake sounds amazing. :D

I'm also really happy to hear you are living more for you now. It's a very healthy approach to having your only child leave for college. And I know (from my own mother) that it is hard to let go and try to regain some of your own independence.

I had a very nice relaxing birthday, which is exactly what I needed. :)

I think it hasn't been a difficult transition for a few reasons. I only have the one child. She was already fiercely independent to begin with. And, very importantly, I have a busy, full life beyond motherhood. I have so many interests and such a busy career...I hardly have time to sit and miss the kid.

Being happy that your daughter is growing up sounds like a fine thing to me.
