[There's a skinny, short girl wandering around the city with a cane, not quite tapping it around her but definitely holding it in a way that suggests she's using it to search everything out without any particular sense of potential danger. She explores each and every building thoroughly, feeling in the corners with the tip of her cane, climbing the ( Read more... )

[Oh, hey, look, it's a familiar tall, slouchy troll strolling up. Well, not look, smell.] Hey, my mightyfine justice sis! Have you got your smell on for my horn pile? I can't find it ...

[Smell! His pants smell like delicious grapes and his face is vanilla which is kind of boring but still tasty.]

Hey Gamzee! [Not her favorite person she'd like to be seeing? But it's really nice to see him.] I haven't seen it yet. I was looking for something a little more alive, to be honest. Like you.

[breaks into a broad grin ... the fact that someone was looking for him? Just about makes his day.] I'm aliviest as they come. [proudly] All up in that lifeliness!

So I see! [And more coherent than she'd have expected him to be. She'd never admit it, but it's a relief to find out she's not the only one, even if her only company ever is Gamzee.] How long have you been all lifeliness here, Gamzee?

[Another one of these weird cosplayers? Hmm. Well, OK.

Souji watches her lick a few things and talk to her stuffed dragon and considers for a moment whether approaching her is actually a good idea.

... He approaches.]

Are you all right?

[She smells him before he even speaks, blind face turning in his direction with a horrible tooth-filled grin.]

Oh yes. [As she's tying a scrape of moldy twine into a noose without even looking at it.] What could possibly be wrong? [Says that grin. Says those teeth.]

[Though she is legitimately interested in him since it doesn't look like there's too many people around.]

[What is with these kids ... whatever they're cosplaying from must be something really strange. Souji briefly wishes he knew anything about it.]

Ah, forgive me, I couldn't help overhearing - you mentioned a kidnapping ...

[Well, it's not really all that far off, is it?]

Yes, I'm taking it under consideration that one has taken place.

[The only question is- is he kidnapped, or a kidnapper?]

That's quite the cruel punishment for such a slight misstep.

[ Not that there's much condemning in Alice's tone - perhaps more just general interest. This girl looks similar to the creature she met the other day, after all, so it's interesting enough to her. ]

There's no such thing as slight incompetence! It's not something you can do by halves. You either succeed, and you're competent, or you fail.

[Casually tying a noose like it ain't no big thing, sniffing in this human's direction. Her clothes smell like blueberries.]

[ Alice isn't particularly impressed by the noose - she has seen worse during her misadventures. And this is just a plush we're talking about. ]

And what about the people who try their best, yet miss succeeding by just a little bit? Do they deserve such a heavy punishment?

Hmmm. [Terezi pretends to think about it.] According to the law- yes! [Troll law is notoriously harsh on the subject of failure.] But the prosecution will allow the defense to make a case for it, if they dare.

You know, there's a real dragon around here somewhere.

[So says the voice from about fifteen feet up. Without groundbound clerics to hold him back, Xykon's barely walked a step in this city since he got here.]

[Jeez, who can blame him? Why walk when you can fly? Or float?]

Is there? [She's very interested in this! ...among other things.]

force_and_style September 12 2011, 18:42:31 UTC
Not evil, though, which frankly is a crock. It's like you can't stick "always evil" on a race any more without a couple dozen chaotic good members of its kind bursting out of the woodwork.

On that note, what are you supposed to be, anyway?

Why should dragons be evil? [Her mouth twists into something that deeply resembles nothing so much as an actual question mark. Trolls sure are weird!]

I'm a troll. [Sniffs the air curiously, her nose wrinkles.] You smell like...powder. Icky white soap powder, not the good vanilla smelling powder.

[Those mannerisms and that person look familiar! She looks to be someone Kanaya knows who is, at least occasionally, more coherent than Gamzee!]

Terezi? I hadn't found you here before.

Kanaya. [Indeed, they can both take solace in company other than that of a crazy stoner clown, however nice he can be.] I think I just arrived, but I wasn't sure who I would find here.

I assume you don't remember anything between your arrival and being in the Veil, then. No clues or hints to how we were brought here? The locals claimed the city itself is sentient which seems like a preposterous claim.

You didn't explicitly ask, but I might as well let you know that I've only spoken with Gamzee and now you here, besides some random confused humans, and a aerial skeleton.

I'm currently in the middle of my investigation on the circumstances of our arrival. [And yeah, that does seem preposterous.] I haven't found any clues on our kidnapper's identity. [And isn't even sure what that would look like on the part of a city!] I'll be sure to question the locals myself.

I was getting to it! I wasn't going to interrogate you about it until after we'd at least said hello. [She makes a small noise in the back of her throat, not quite disappointed but not quite pleased, either. That's not much to go on.] Anyway given the state of this place that's about what I'd expect. Not many people, for not very long. It's a dump and it smells like mold and neglect.
