The purpose of Facebook completely escapes me. I don't understand why people want to send me messages that way, rather than email. I suppose it helps you not give out your email address, but... I just end up going 'huh'.

I think the whole wall thing is faster than email. I know I communicate with various relatives and muggle friends that way. And that's fine. I just think I'm missing the overall point of it.

Wall is sort of like twittering though. Plus, it's so very public. Like comments on LJ/IJ.

Facebook was originally developed as a way for college students to organise parties. I've always assumed that that was why I don't always get the point of it.

I didn't realize that was what it was about. It kind of makes sense, then, doesn't it. We're too old. *g*

Wow, you are busy. And still in love with the Gibbs, I see. This is good! :D Still think Jethro and Mike got it on back in the day, though... ;)

Oh, I like that icon! *g*

And yeah, Mike and Jethro is pretty much cannon. I'm afraid so is DiNozzo and Gibbs, and Fornell and Gibbs. *g* He gets around, our boy does.

Facebook is definitely for muggle networking, but it's very good for that. We've been officially encouraged to do it for work, so I consider it a very public and circumscribed sort of connection, but a valuable one for that particular community. I have also acquired a few family members and several old friends from high school and college. (It helps to have an unusual name in this context -- I'm easy to search for.) I don't really have a whole lot to say to most of these people, but it's a pleasant illusion of sociability and a nice way to to keep tabs on them, like Christmas Card Friends.

I'm very aware that it's public and formal and I don't post anything very personal or get involved in any of the dopey applications. It meshes well with Linked In. BTW, I recommend Linked In even if you have no interest in seeking work yourself. It's a great source of industry gossip, at least it is in my industry.

I guess you're right. Like I said, I keep in touch with my muggle relatives this way, but it just seems so unsatisfying to keep in touch with any of my real fans that way. I just don't get how it all works.

And yeah, it's just a little too public.

Maybe I'm too old for Facebook as well, I'm not interested at all. :/

I've just discovered NCIS. I'm watching the current episodes, but would like to catch up with some of the earlier ones. Daisy on my friends' list is the only other person I'm aware of at the moment who's also interested. She's been posting pictures of Michael for ages, and I've always wondered who he was. Now I know. ;-)

Heh. Sorry to take so long to get back to these comments. I've been insanely busy since I posted. *g*

I adore NCIS. If you're looking for older eps, I would start with Season 3. It gets a lot better there. I like season 1 and 2 okay, but things gel after Kate is gone.

Michael Wheaterly is hot in NCIS, but he is an order of magnitude hotter in Dark Angel. I can't believe it's the same person only a few years earlier. It's amazing.
