There was a violent incident on a Greyhound bus in Manitoba yesterday. Normally I'm all for freedom of travel, but is it really prudent to have no security whatsoever on buses and trains? They should give the drivers a wand or something. *shudders*

OMFG, WTF? The guy either has to be on drugs or is psychotic. There's just no way to know at this point, but the poor victim had no chance. It's just very disturbing.

I meant metal detection at the pick up, not arming anyone. Who the hell should be carrying a knife onto a bus? More weapons is not really helpful in the most extreme situations, as you say, and if it's not so crazy than sometimes a couple brave Samaritans is enough. That poor guy had no chance.

I generally try not to sit next to anyone at all. :P But, yeah, women when I have the choice for sure.

Dude, we only gave our border agents guns last year, and that was a Big Damn Deal. We're uptight about it

Yeah, the logistics are a total pain, for sure, but then crazy shit happens... I wonder how liable the bus line is in this? It's probably all in the fine print on the tickets.
