Dark Canadian co-production kicks off glamorous Cannes film fest.

Don McKellar, Sandra Oh, Martha Burns and Susan Coyne are in the Cannes opener. That is pretty sweet, you guys.

I want to see this one so bad.

Me too! It'll play at TIFF, right? And we shall go?

I hope it will! I don't see why it wouldn't.

We shall go indeed. \m/ \n/

At least this looks as though it's going to be big enough to make it to the UK. I'm still waiting to see The Tracey Fragments and My Winnipeg.

*thinks*

If I give the Action Team a list of Canadian films I need to see on the big screen, they'll be able to sort that for my visit to Toronto, yes?

If they exist on DVD, it is possible that this could happen. You'll have to ask Our Fearless Leader.

I'm afraid bumping TIFF up a month is not within our powers, though. :P

If they existed on DVD I'd have seen them by now :(

I'm disappointed by the limited nature of your powers. I was hoping for a Daniel MacIvor one-man performance, and gigs by several of my favourite Canadian bands as well.

Eeeee! I was so excited when I saw they were making this and that McKellar was handling the adaptation (I think at one point, he was also slated to direct it, as well). He did such an awesome job on Red Violin. I do wish Daniel Craig was still the lead (I guess he had to bow out for scheduling conflict or summat).

Naw, I only ever heard he was writing and acting. :)

It will probably be pretty cool.

I am so excited for this. I love the book so hard and it must have been really tricky to adapt. But there's anyone I can trust to do a good job with it, it's totally Don McKellar. So yay. Also, look at that cast! Woo!

Excuse me, but I think I am in love with your icon.

Thank you, I'm kind of in love with it too. It's my Action Don icon! And much love for yours too. Upside down is a good look for Darren.

I've never read the book, but it sounds interesting.

The thing must have some merit if it got the opening spot. :D

You never know. It might go on the American festival circuit, seeing as it's got some fairly well-known U.S. actors . . .

Blindness is being distributed by Miramax. Their site already lists August 8, 2008 as a limited release date for the movie in the US.

Maybe so, but I live in the back of beyond where we rarely get limited releases. Sigh.
