Eventually I'll do that English language meme thing Nos posted and you can all make fun of my accent.

\o/ I cannot WAIT!

And yeah, I think DW will take a while to get moving. The community import thing is tough to figure out; I suspect they'll get the problem sorted soon, but for now, I think everyone will stick around LJ for a few more years. It'll be a sloooooow transition.

Say hi to your mom! And give her a hug from your mysterious Toronto-going pal!

LOL. Just have to wait for a quiet time to do it... and hope the built-in mic on my lappy is up to the task.

The comm thing IS rough.... but it'll inspire me to go back and save more of my bookmarks for my own having. And, hey, maybe we can have, like, a repost comm? Where people can can post a note if they've reposted old fic offerings on their DW, y/y? Because you know, more copies of fics available = yay.

I will hug my mom. That's, like, most of what I do when I go home. :D

Today is Dreamwidth Madness Day, apparently. I'd heard rumblings, but suddenly, wham, half my flist is talking about their new accounts.

I am pretty much with you in plans for checking-out-ness.

Yeah, it think the invote codes just got given out, so people are alloting them to their friendses. Who are a lot of my friends, apparently.

So, yeah. Cool people being over there, I'll have a poke at it. I'm not sure it'll take off that fast, free accounts being invite-only. I mean, if most of the action is still on LJ well... most of it with be here. Fandom votes with its feet, but slooooooowly, and only when there's a clear advantage. I'm not convinced yet that DW is improvement enough, really. Business model is all well-and-good but if the interface isn't a leap? People moved to LJ from lists because the functionality was so conducive to community. Going to have to see if DW can stand out similarly. If LJers are feeling like they're LOSING features in the switch, even for shinier admin, well...

I'm staying put on LJ. I've got a permanent account so unless some massive wipeout happens, I'm not going anywhere.

I think that unless/until DW turns up with some massive improvement in functionality over LJ there won't be an huge shift. Since they're making it easy enough to operate from both sites at the same time, that's what people will do (And if the community aspect on DW doesn't get moving, people would probably trickle back this way, just for convenience's sake.). It's a draw at the moment, being able to have both, but I do wonder if that might end up stalling them out a bit later. We'll see. I know -2 things about marketing or business, so.

It's the shiny at the moment. Worth having an eyeball at, even if the name is smurfy and the colour scheme kind of unappealing. I know they want to be visually distinct from El Jay, but red and pink? Bleh.
