I hope this rain stops soon, cause we do have a crawl space that helps some, but it's getting dangerously close to my front door. The road's almost gone.
What part of the country are you in? I was reading your post yesterday about the tornadoes, and thinking back to when I grew up in Indiana. I was deathly afraid of big storms well into my teens, mostly because of a time when I was very small, when my parents had to pull the mattress of their bed, lean it up in the hallway and shove the three of us kids under it.
We live in Northeastern Arkansas, right on the edge of the Missouri bootheel and right across the Mississippi River from TN. It's cotton country here. And soybeans, field corn, rice, well, you get the picture. *G* Flat lands, high water table. Think "Painted House" which was filmed just down the road and you've got us. *G*
We got that storm yesterday. It was ugly. There's a creek behind our house that's more of a lake right now. Fortunately, it appears that we bought a house on a hill. Or mound. Or slight incline? Things would have got much nastier if it had kept pouring a few more hours.
