I know I've been totally absent, and don't think I didn't miss you all, because I did. Oh, but I did.  I know some of my LJ buds are friends with me on Facebook, others on Twitter, and they know a few things we've been up to.  Who cares? Let's recap! So far it's been loads of fun. :-)

We've spent a lot of time hanging with friends. This is one of my ( Read more... )

Thank you! I tell her that all the time and she still insists on saying she's not. :-( Silly, silly girl.

At least you're having fun. That's the most important thing.

Yes! And I am keeping from getting stressed about the lack of writing, so that means when I do sit down to write it's a little easier. :-)

Great pictures :) (I can't imagine eating crawdads, I must admit -- but then, I don't like any kind of shellfish.)

That's just it, I don't either. Shrimp has a strange texture to its meat. I'm the same way with shallots. Ick. I don't like lobster and will only eat clams if they're fried in strips. Now, crab legs I can handle if they have the garlic butter that Joe's Crab Shack serves with them.

Crawdads, on the other hand, have a taste that's all their own. It's very good. Especially if cooked in a Cajun boil. It adds a wonderful spice to them.

One of our daughter's friends is from Louisiana and she eats them totally different than we do. We only eat the tails, making sure to peel back the "poop shoot" as Joe calls it. (The vein. lol) She pinches the head off, slides a finger under the back shell and pulls all the meat out, guts and all. And eats it. And loves it! Then she sucks the spicy juices out of the head. Um, no thank you. lol

Joe ordered crawfish Étouffée while we were in New Orleans and I hated the taste of it. Cajun boiled crawfish is totally different though.
