Been meaning to txt you on my status. Which is to say, it would be a wicked short message. DOING FUCK-ALL.

My back is still all messed up - 3 weeks tomorrow. Because of passover, the doctor has been out of the office and won't be back to read the MRI results until Wednesday!!!

I've been doing some light stretching, but the whole "avoid carrying heavy loads" bit doesn't quite jibe with life with two kids.

Tonight, I cross over to the dark side. DiWriter goes to the chiropractor. I'm at my wits' end.

And because of all this, I am eating like crap. Emotional eater, thy name is Di.

It get better, right?

Oh, Di. I'm sorry to hear about your back woes. It DOES get better...your kids will eventually require less lifting! Though that could be some time yet... <3 At least you're trying many avenues to get help. May you get relief soon, chica.

I'm a bit behind in my running training. I'm still at the 2mi mark and need to be at 3.1 for the tri. I'll get there in a few weeks but I was hoping I'd be further along by now. There's a neighborhood 5K I could sign up for on May 22nd and according to schedule I should be ready on the 22nd exactly. I'm a bit intimidated by that! I want to be a few weeks at 5K-level so now I'm not sure I want to sign up. Stoopid perfectionism, "If I can't run it fast I won't run it at all." Sheesh.

Well, the chiro wasn't bad. He was able to call for the MRI results, and informed me that I don't have an "injury" so it's mostly just strained, and given my lifestyle, hasn't had much chance to heal.

So he did some treatment. He also suggested getting back to the gym, but with a modified workout plan. I was basically biting off more than I was ready for. Oh, and elliptical machines, while they seem really good for you, are Of The Devil, and should be avoided.

As for the emotional side - I did a bit of research and apparently, chronic pain reduces serotonin levels, leading to mild depression. Ergo, emotional eating. So I drank more water today and had a half portion of dinner.

Good for you on the running! You will get there!

Ah, the silver lining in having to see the chiro yesterday...getting the MRI results ahead of schedule! It will be interesting to hear your doc's take in addition to the chiro's. And I'll have to research the dangers of ellipticals since I like them so much...

Slowing down at the gym is better than freezing up for 3+wks! Take good care, Di. Knowing is half the battle. ♥
