Oh boy....the dinner must have been very uncomfortable for the poor Rachel! Lou didn't help at all, she just did what it was expected from her to avoid his father's reprimand.
But at least she admitted that Rachel is a good woman and that she didn't like her just because she's a menace to the life she had with Teaspoon. Considering that Teaspoon couldn't adopt her I can understand why Lou feels so shaky. She doesn't know Rachel and she has no way to know if, if ever Teaspoon and her would get married, the woman will become as Cinderella's stepmother and drive Teaspoon away from her! I know that this is an absurd hypothesis, but Lou doesn't have any other family other Teaspoon and long for the stability he represents. But Teaspoon is right: one day Lou will inevitably start to grow up and she will want to leave the nest, and then maybe she'll be able to understand her father's feelings better.
Hi Paola!!! You're right. Rachel must have felt very uncomfortable, but she's the adult here and can understand how the girl must feel. It's true that Rachel represents a threat to Lou's life, and it'll take a while for Lou to accept Rachel in her life. Even when she realizes that Rachel isn't the wicked stepmother, she'll have her reasons for still refusing her.
By the way, one of the girl in the messenger's group is reading this story and also When Life Begins and she's enjoying them! But I can't understand why didn't bother to write you to say that she's appreciating your stories, considering she even has a LJ account...
Thanks for letting me know. I'm glad she likes the stories. There are some people who are shy and don't like to leave comments. I guess that must be it.
