Earlier this summer, Terje said we should keep the lights in the bathroom on all hours, so that the spiders wouldn't want to be there. And ever since there has been, what feels like, more spiders in the bathroom, and what definitely is, LARGER spiders ( Read more... )

Probably not, and I don't think I'll Google it in case of pictures :P

I know we're kinda spoiled when it comes to spiders and size here, but... they have been getting larger over the recent years! Seriously! I guess it's all a matter of what you're used to.

Wow... you have heaps of spiders in your house! We have a few, but ours seem rather small compared to your monster spiders!

In a way I think Aussie spiders are larger :P

I guess we have a few, being ground lever/under ground - there are not as many upstairs. It doesn't help that we have windows open + door to the garden :P

My mom got these things you plug in the power outlets, which are supposed to be some high-frequency sound that wards off spiders and stuff. It worked for like.. a week :P

Hehe hmm... I can say I haven't actually SEEN a spider from where youy live, so ours may actually be bigger lol. But then again, a Red Back Spider may be tiny but man, it can kill people if the bite isn't treated straight away.

Spiders like Huntsmen and Daddy Long Legs, no idea what it's scientific name is though, they can get huge but they can't poison humans, but a Daddy Long Legs is deadly to Red Backs, so I don't mind them! I call the one in the laundry Matilda. :P

That's the thing; we don't have spiders that are strong enough to bite through the skin, so ours aren't dangerous. They're just icky.

We have lots of huntsmen and daddy long legs.

Lol, that made me laugh so hard, I'm sorry ;p
I think the spiders in South-Norway is much larger than the one in North of Norway, I've seen pictures by one who lives in Sandefjord, and I've never seen any big spiders like those.

I've always thought that insects/spiders gets atracted by light.. ?

One of them are called "Hoppe-edderkopp" :S and I think the other one was called "husedderkopp", but I'm not sure on that one.

They're big and creepy, I'm glad I haven't met those. Yet. :)

Yay for northern norway:) No 'huggorm' and small/manageable spiders (except the daddy long legs).

I usually get these little wispy spiders in my bathroom (lights on or off, so I can't win)... but.. eh.. they're SO tiny...the bigger ones though?? I don't like those. I can deal with Daddy Longlegs... But pretty much the only spider I like is Charlotte from 'Charlotte's Web'!

I couldn't stand a spider that took that many whacks to kill -- even if it wasn't lethal.

We live in the woods (a neighborhood, yes, but still definitely in the woods), and while we get our fair share of bugs, if we don't get the bait traps on schedule, we get mice. I like mice, they're cute and adorable -- but not when they're wild mice running around making a mess. Gah!

And we get squirrels IN our walls .... and can't get back out... and then are stinky...

All these little critters even with the fox that lives under our back porch. :)

We live in a suburb, so we have out fair share of nature as well, so that must be it. No squirrels, though :P

I had a really big one in the bedroom while T was still away. I saw it one night, but wasn't fast enough for the vacuum cleaner. And, since I didn't see it again, I assumed it was gone. But, some weeks later I had problems falling asleep, and was lying awake, and I could hear something walk over a plastic bag on the floor. I started worrying about mice. The next day the same, HUGE spider was standing on the wall...

I got it with the vacuum cleaner, but it was really icky to hold the tube and all while knowing it was going through. I was shaking uncontrollably for 30 seconds afterward.
