Wooooo! I'm definitely pretty giddy about the fact that Obama won, but yeah, the whole not-looking-good thing about the various gay marriage votes is pretty sobering. I honestly just can't understand how people can still legitimately follow the separate but equal argument...

You captured how I felt there pretty well. I went from pretty damn happy when they called it for Obama, and pleasantly shocked by the voting here in NM, to very depressed by Prop. 8. Somehow, the results on that became what I was waiting for to really let myself celebrate, and it went the wrong way. Even though I think there's a good chance it will get overturned by the state supreme court, I'm still more depressed than I should be, particularly after every single federal race here went Democratic by 55% or more, including the previously very Republican 2nd Congressional District. Hmm, bittersweet seems to be the operative word although maybe there's a better choice.
