The last few posts are stories that I wrote years ago, back when I needed to fill the void left by Buffy going off the air. Me posting them now was an attempt to fill the void left by my writer's block
( Read more... )
Seriously though, I'm not sure how to help you get over your writer's block. If I'm stuck on something, I tend to let someone else read it and give me their thoughts. Usually that jump-starts my own thought processes again.
Oh, and I sympathise about the reading old fic thing. I can't read my early stuff without physically cringing. I caused myself a great deal of stress by doing this meme which had me choosing bits of my own writing that I liked. *shudders*
Well, to be fair, I think some of my writer's block is in part due to how busy I've been in the last few days, so my head just hasn't been in a WMC kinda space (as much as I hate to admit that it's even possible!) But if I get really stuck, I might take you up on that suggestion and let you read it for some feedback...
Heh. I totally get what you said about rereading stuff and just feeling like some things the characters say are completely out of character. That's pretty much my version of Xander in my Empty Spaces fic - I was reading it last night thinking "since when did I make Xander so sex-obsessed?" Apparently he must have been channelling something back when I wrote it...LOL.
And when I get home from work tonight, I'm totally reading your Faith/Cordelia fic...
This is what I do (sometimes it helps ;)) - watching favorite parts of my favorite episodes, esp. those who capture an emotion close to what you want for your story. Listen to music, and go... fly. Please. I so want to read that story!
Well, the good news is I actually started writing again last night. I watched the first episode again (hadn't seen it in awhile) and it seemed to get me back into that WMC vibe. (The gin and tonic probably didn't hurt, either - nothing like relaxing with a laptop and a cool drink to get the sexy-scenes flowing). So yay me! I've still got one last scene that I need to work out, but I'll have the story up for you guys by the end of the week.
