BBC Have Your Say: New Doctor Who

Apr 05, 2010 09:25

OK, once more, people over there are at the BBC website are annoying me. They refuse to separate Matt Smith from David Tennant and bemoan the lack of "serious drama". What do I say?

FUCK SERIOUS DRAMA!!!

AND, IN OTHER NEWS, HERE IS MY POST.

I became very disillusioned with Doctor Who throughout the last section of Davies' reign. This was mainly ( Read more... )

It was a brilliant episode! (Some people need to realise that Doctor Who is a family show, there are supposed to be different aspects to it rather consistently depressing "serious" drama...)

The only thing I've got to get used to is the new version of the theme tune but apart from that loved everything else. Bring on the golden age of Steven Moffat :-)

The Davies is dead long live the Moffat?

I really wasn't worried, because my favourite episodes were always his anyway. He was definitely the best WRITER on the team.

Can't wait for the deeper exploration of the Weeping Angels, and being reintroduced to River Song.

I think the problem is there are a lot of fans out there determined to prove that "It's NOT just a kids show, it's for adults, look at it it's so seriuz!!!!". And so these fans loved it when it got to a point that I wouldn't want Jordana (the 8 year old) to watch it, because it proved their point.

But it IS a family show. And now they're gonna have to suck it up.

Did you notice how much the 'new' Tardis looked like The Hub? Nice to see they're recycling!

Oh and the glass dildo making suggestive movements *filthy mind*

And there is a huge retro Who fest on Sci Fi, currently featuring 'my' Doctor, Peter Davidson!

Oh and I loved the new Who! I've been so looking forward to Matt Smith, and loved the episode. Can't wait till the next one.

Like I'm not sure about the theme tune, but it's a minor thing

I liked the opening credits - in fact I liked the fact that it was so different from the Davies era, and the fact that it really reminded me of some of the Who episodes of bygone years.

And I may be one of the only people in existence who actually liked the theme tune. XP.

I totally agree with you. I could not have taken another season filled with the 'life sucks, then you die' attitude that prevailed over the last of Doctor Who, and especially of Torchwood. I wasn't sure about the new Doctor, but Matt Smith won me over almost immediately. I almost wish the little girl could have gone with him, instead of grown-up Amy, she was so good. It they continue to leave out the soul-numbing angst that had taken over the franchise, this may be the best season yet. I still miss Christopher Eccleston, though. He was MY doctor.
