Awwwwww this is so sweet. I love the friendship between Inara and Kaylee. I could very well picture her doing all this for Kaylee's birthday. Love that Jayne pretended to get a hooker! SO JAYNE :)

Since this is set pre-series and in my timeline, Jayne and Kaylee are newly involved and still tying to keep their relationship under wraps, lest Mal space Jayne or something. So yeah, the merc has to keep up appearances. Inara is so nurturing of Kaylee, I could just see her being very generous with her resources to cheer the li'l mechanic up.(Of course, she doesn't realize she's aiding and abetting Jayne at the same time... *grin*)

What a nice piece to wake up to, and a cold morning already looks better. :) Great writing as always, love the interaction between Inara and Kaylee.

Aww, I love this! Kaylee's a dear and I love her friendship with Inara. I love Jayne's behavior throughout this-- he was great! And I totally want to stay in the Rose Room at Mama Angelina's now! *is wistful*

Thank you, Kat! The Rose Room is based on a B&B my husband and I once stayed in. The food was good, but no birthday cake, alas.
