sapphires, gems that you can eat

Before I forget: Last night I dreamt. I worked in a lapidary, but it was vast, and it was also hosting a rock show for jewelry makers. Did I work there, or did my sister-in-law just work there? have you read Catherynn Valente? One of the stories in Cities of Coin and etc. involves edible gems.

In The Silver Chair in the Narnia chronicles, too, there are little gnomes who come from cracks deep in the earth where, they say, you can squeeze rubies for juice and eat living diamonds.

Yes, I have! And while I was dreaming, I remember remembering the poor denizens of Marrow. And . .. those little turtle-things with the pools on top of their head. Heh; oddly enough, I was thinking about them yesterday. I love it when books stay with you and you find yourself enjoying just *thinking* about them!
