This is such a wonderful surprise. I love your take on Wilson and the way you build on House's odd claims about his past.

Heh - I take everything House says about Wilson with a grain of salt. He tends to be truer in essence than in detail :)

Thank you for reading!

Your story reminded me of why I love cats so, and how much I miss having one. They are so quietly and serenely just...there.

This is a lovely piece of writing. It perfectly captures Wilson in all his loneliness.

You did a good job too explaining the exaggerations House always makes, while remembering the essence of his truths. "He also said you turned into a hoarder recluse." Cuddy tries to sound like she thinks it's a ridiculous idea, but Wilson can hear the hint of a question in her voice.

I do wonder if Wilson' loneliness and House's comments, realistically, aren't just more dropped plotlines or forgetfulness on the part of the writers, but I like your explanation much better.

Thank you! I always take the things House says about Wilson with a grain of salt (I still don't completely believe that wife #3 is named Julie, because House was the only one to mention her name and he rarely bothered to get names correct in the first couple of seasons). I think he likes to bury the deeper truth under outrageous details, so it was fun to play with that a bit.

Love how you clarified and wove canon into the story so it's credible. Beautiful story.

Thank you! I'm way too obsessed with canon to ever be a truly imaginative writer in the fandom, but for me the fun is in putting the pieces together, even if the picture isn't exactly what was intended.

Thank you! I like making sense of House's more bizarre syatemts about Wilson, at least to myself.

The original ending was actually bleaker, since I don't think Sarah is enough.

Thanks for reading!

I love cats. I love your fiction. I love HOUSE and have a special fondness for Wilson. How could I NOT love this story? :) The ending is rather sad...but very believable. I like the mental image it brings of Wilson on the couch with Sarah using him for a pillow.

Oh, and thanks for clearing up that comment about the wooden leg. That one has had me puzzled ever since House said it!

I love cats as well, so my love for Wilson grew exponentially when he got Sarah. House was totally wrong - a cat-lover who cooks, is amazing in bed and has a steady job? That's number one on the hit parade for me!

I assumed from the beginning that the one-legged comment was House deliberately exaggerating to make a point, so I decided the three-legged cat comment was the same. True in essence, but ridiculous in detail.
