Part nine In which Yuan is still a jerk, Emil beats up a random priest, the name Aster is finally introduced and Decus gets electrocuted.
Part Ten
As they leave the Cape Fortress, it's time to confront Yuan about what he's been doing. The gang feels a bit bad for suspecting Yuan of all those crimes.
But Yuan's still the same jerk as ever. He tells them to hand over the Cores they have. Ventus and Glacies, in this case. They refuse, but Yuan refuses to cooperate with them and emphasizes that they're technically still enemies. Then he leaves.
And once again it's impossible to catch up with him because of his Rheaird.
So they return to Meltokio to get Seles to bed and discuss what's been going on.
Sylvarant Dynasty... It's still a ridiculous plan. Apparently the Vanguard want Ratatosk's Core so they can use it to fire the Mana Cannon at a Tethe'allan city and force the entire country into submission that way. Everyone is shocked.
They decide to split up again. Zelos and Colette will go search for Lloyd in the hopes he'll have some answers. Meanwhile, Regal and Sheena will go with Decus and Alice to find out more about the Vanguard and the cores.
First they go to the Temple of Earth, to see if Solum's core is still there or not. It seems likely Emil has it, after all. But the entrance is barred because of earthquakes and they'll have to come back later. Next up would be the Temple of Lightning, then.
Since they have plenty of time to waste, Alice decides to hatch Glacies' core.
And Decus promptly collapses. ... That isn't weird at all.
They return to Meltokio so Decus can rest. Once he's awake they go up to the square to witness a side-event!
Some helpless old Sylvarant lady wants medical care for her son, but the priest refuses to recommend her to a doctor.
Marta and Emil appear on the scene to punish the priest for being such a heartless jerk. Emil starts kicking him in a seemingly endless loop. ... Mmm, endless kicking loops. But apparently, kicking frail priests is out of character for Emil. Marta decides to investigate what's wrong with him.
Chapter Six. Dark Premonition. ... How foreboding.
Our heroes enter the Temple of Lightning to find their way blocked by Papal Knights. Apparently, the entire area is off-limits.
One of the knights shoves Alice, and Decus gladly takes the opportunity to catch her.
Then he tries to tell the knights off for being jerks to Alice, but they use irrational violence against him, causing him to go into Ratatosk Mode.
So he ends up dangling one of the knights over the ledge by his throat while he holds the other off with his sword. Everyone else tells him to calm the hell down again.
Just as he puts the knight down on solid ground again, Director Schneider of the Sybak Academy arrives on the scene. He seems to recognize Decus from somewhere.
But then he shakes it off. When he finds out that Regal is actually Duke Bryant, he tells the group to go wait for him in Sybak's Academy. And so they head to Sybak! Outside the academy, some random researcher storms towards them and starts calling Decus "Aster".
Aster apparently died while searching for Ratatosk and looks just like Decus.
Also, he was killed by Richter, who was his best friend. The plot thickens.
Suffering from a massive headache, Decus goes to the inn to get some rest. Meanwhile, Regal gossips about him to Alice and Sheena. He seems to think that Decus is suffering from some sort of amnesia and the Decus we know is just some faux personality created to make up for the lack of memories. Meanwhile, Ratatosk Decus could very well be his real personality. ... Decus overhears all of this.
When Schneider finally returns, they go to ask him about Aster. Aster was researching Ratatosk, the Summon Spirit of the old tree, and Richter was helping him. They went on a field test to find Ratatosk and Richter came back alone. How suspicious.
Now we gain entrance to the Temple of Lightning! Inside, we should be able to find a chick named Rilena who worked together with Aster as well. If Decus really is Aster, she'd know.
But the Vanguard invaded the temple and the researchers are all running for their lives!
Further into the temple, we find Rilena and Emil! Emil is threatening her for no real reason and Alice attempts to put a stop to it. So Emil draws his weapon and Decus steps into protect Alice.
But he is terrified and asks his "other me" to help him out. Ratatosk Mode, gooo~
Ratatosk Decus sends Emil and Rilena to the Shadow Realm- I mean... Well, through a dimensional boundary, anyway. No clue where they went. Tenebrae seems to think that either Emil or Rilena had a core, which means they'd have been sent to the corresponding altar.
And Alice still finds Decus just as despicable as before, even though he's saved her life a bazillion times by now.
They continue onward to search for the core of the Centurion of Lightning-
BUT THEY ARE TOO LATE! Yuan beat them to it again. ... And he was wearing another ridiculous mask.
Time to state the obvious!
Decus hopes to kick Yuan's ass once and for all.
Boy, I wish we could battle him.
And as Decus draws his sword, he gets electrocuted. This could be either because his sword acts as a huge lightning rod, or because Yuan used Indignation. ... Possibly both.
Yuan flees the scene by hopping down this high altar and into a deep dark abyss. ... Well, he has wings and a Rheaird, so I'm sure he knows what he's doing.
CURSES. Foiled again!
Next plan of action is to try the Temple of Earth again. Rilena would probably be there too.
Is Decus really Aster? Does Emil have Solum's core? Will the plot become more awesome in Altamira? And aren't we still missing one of Lloyd's companions?
Stay tuned!
