Thoughts on Wicked: The book and the musical

I see the two as parallel universes. Both of them are amazing and complex, but in different ways.
Musical
Timing, choreography, acting, singing, it being live on stage means you can experience it with sound and sight with many people and their energy. The story of the musical is more optimistic and different in tone. It's intention is to bring the ( Read more... )

Completely agree. I read the book right before I saw the musical in NYC (and I wouldn't let myself listen to the soundtrack beforehand for fear of spoilers :P ) and I was surprised how different they were.
But you're right, they do need to be different, since they're two completely different mediums. Same with book/film adaptations. I love them both, just in different ways. :D

My friend is reading the book right now, and so of course I'm going to be reading it after she finishes it. =D She said she loves it!
