The line "Dean will never let him die" came to me and I just knew there was an angsty story behind it waiting to be put on paper. And you know me, I can't pass up depressing stuff!
It sometimes seems to me that both boys are simply going through the motions because that's all they can do. Being Winchesters means they can't die (well, it doesn't tend to last), there's always something they have to do, some big bad they have to fight, and it never, ever ends. The show has made a point of Dean struggling with it but not as much with Sam and seriously, if I were him, I'd be over everything too.

this rings so true to me.
If only Sam had an angel that had come when he prayed maybe he would still have faith and hope in the future.
Closing the gates of hell was going to be his redemption and now he is left with nothing..
He must feel like he has no control over his own life..and never has.
