yup, you can get silver hair spray in Boots, usually :)
Buy more than you think you need as it's hard to get even coverage and it rubs off so may need topping up.

I don't think that temp coloured hairspray + gel wax would be good- it's basically powder, so I think gel wax would make it clump, you'd be better off styling it with traditional firm-hold hairspray I think.

you used to be able to get hair mascara which was great for that sort of thing - google suggests it's still available but not as widely as it was.
In the past i've just mixed mica powered into hair gel - it made a kind of sparkle effect rather than a strong metallic though

Ah! I HAVE temporary silver hair stuff which you could use - but i think it's in my parents house and thus not very convenient :(
It is a silver wax.
