I'm going to Paris in a couple of weeks time. I'm very (over) excited.

I've been several times before, but not for about 7 or 8 years. Anyone care to recommend me minor or recent treasures? I'm only there for 2 full days, but I'm footloose and childfree.

Down and Out in Paris and London might take your fancy, been a long time since i read it but I found it compelling in both political and literary terms.

Nana/the Belly of Paris - Classic Zola set in Paris.

Not my thing but Henry Miller, maybe?

Anais Nin, Djuna Barnes mebbe?

Oh yes, I read DandO in PandL when I was a teenager. I remember it being very depressing/distressing, but I imagine that would be less the case now as I'm a bit more robust these days.

I've never read any Zola - what's the difficulty/pay off ratio? (Bear in mind I cannot understand Judiff Butlerrrr, so may not have your reading abilities).

I don't like Henry Miller either.

Have only read Anais Nin erotica, should broaden perhaps. Not read any Djuna Barnes - will investigate. Thank you!

Perfume by Patrick Suskind is great. Also, The Three Musketeers and sequels? Also, Pig Tales by Marie Someone - am in bed so can't check - is very strange and good. Also, Genet? And I think there's an Edmund White set in Paris too, possibly The Married Man?

Thank you. Have read 3Musks and ManInIronMask, but none of the other authors, will investigate further.
