annoying hunger/cravings and no solution!

So for the past week-ish I've been experiencing my main PMS/period symptom, which is ravenous hunger. This time around it's particularly annoying. Nothing in my kitchen or from Taco Bell will hit the spot or scratch the itch right. What I mean by that is I think there's something that, if eaten, will satisfy my very ambiguous craving, but I can't ( Read more... )

I get like that sometimes. Usually it's something salty for me (mmm, sesame chicken sounds good). I don't know if it's abnormal (my most recent bloodwork was fine and was just before my period), but you did remind me that I no longer live in a country with Taco Bell :(

I think (hope) cravings like that are just a normal part of pms for some of us. I'm at that stage now myself and even made a huge effing pan of Guinness stew thinking it would help. No. Just got done with a huge lunch which even included half of a baguette, and I'm ready to eat again. I definitely feel for you :-/

Guinness stew, you say? *intrigued*

I had bloodwork done back in October, and the only nutrient deficiency (or whatever you might call it) was verrry low vitamin D, but I noticed no increased ambiguous cravings in the periods between then and now. I did start taking my vitamins more regularly this past month--vitamin D, B-complex, and cal-mag--along with titrating up to the full 200mg dose of lamotrigine, which I was recently prescribed. So either it's somehow related to that, or it's just a normal fluctuation in, uh, whatever makes periods different from one cycle to the next.

I added a few veggies, but that's pretty much what I made. Soup sucks to make because of all of the cutting and peeling, but it's really good when I have PMS hunger/cravings because I can make tons and have food for 3-4 days.

I usually have a big fat steak a few days before my period and it seems to help with random cravings. Maybe that would help?

A few days before my period I am ALWAYS ravenous. I will eat from the time I get up to the time I go to bed and still be insatiably hungry. I don't think it's anything specific I'm lacking because I do get very specific food cravings when my iron gets low (I'm anemic) but with the PMS hunger it is really just the desire to eat constantly. You might be low in something but it could simply be an unending hunger. I don't fight it when I get my PMS hunger. I just have a day of indulgence.
