Period 'waiting' for you to go home.

This may sound crazy, but ever since I moved away to college four years ago, I've noticed that my period will sometimes 'wait' a few days past its anticipated arrival date if my body 'knows' that I'm going home to my parents' house for the weekend. Any stress, particularly something like a car accident (yikes!) can delay ovulation. Do you usually go home to your folks after exams? Or could it be that you're scrambling a bit to get ready to go home? That could delay ovulation?

Do you chart the days between your periods? There could be a pattern you're just not seeing. Either way it all sounds normal. :)

I track the number of days between my periods (29-34 days, but usually 32 days) and casually observe when my body is preparing to ovulate.

I hope it's all normal. The fact that I'm sexually active and late makes me nervous, even though my partner and I have been very careful with condoms.

Strictly anecdotally, the one time I had a scare like whoa in college was during spring break. I was a royal grump the entire time I was home (even though like you I'd been quite careful). I got my period as soon as I got off the plane back at school. :p

Bodies aren't perfect - they're really subject to inside and outside stress. :)
