menstrual cup as fertility tool?

I was talking to my neighbor, and it was mentioned that they were planning a family with the help of a menstrual cup -

Has anyone in the community had experience with home insemination by way of a cup or the ol' "turkey baster" method?

We've tried it with the keeper, with the fem cap, and with a 3cc needless syringe. So far no go with any of them. My only advice if you go the baster route/syringe is that if you bump your cervix you may feel some bruising pain for a while.
