For the diamond fold, you fold the rim that same way, but on the outside of the cup. The outside of the cup folds back on itself. Make the top of the rim touch the base of the cup. Keep holding the rim against the base. Flatten the edges of the rim where the fold starts. Flatten the whole cup. It forms a diamond shape.
Half diamond fold. Take the cup folded as a diamond. If you hold the base and rim with your left hand, use your right hand to feel for the right and left tips of the diamond, where the rim is folded. Fold the two tips together and up, so that they touch. Now you can release the rim and base. Hold the cup by the tips to insert it. This is a good fold for soft cups because it makes them springy. It might help you open your cup.
