If you have a really high cervix you will probably need to push the cup higher. The cup needs to be close to your cervix... Ignore the cup companies saying it should sit just inside your vaginal canal. False!

Have you considered a MeLuna? They have a very wide range of cups, so you will be able to choose whether you want a large capacity cup, a small, firm, soft, colour and stem style, they even have ring style stems, so if you were worried about pushing your cup too high into your vagina you could thread a string threw the ring until you figure out how high your cup should be, with out having to worry about having any trouble getting it out

Thanks, starsandmoons! I did consider the MeLuna before I ordered the Lunette. I like that you can customize with the MeLuna, and they do have a stem option. I find the longer stems reassuring and they really help me with removal. I can hold the stem with one hand while coaxing out the base with the other. Ultimately, I went with the Lunette because it was longer in total length and I had heard great things about it. The Meluna may be something to think about, though, if I need a new cup.

I'll try some different placement positions to see if that helps. Nudging the cup a bit higher, or letting it open about halfway in and then pushing it up. Going higher makes me nervous, but I can try a little at a time to see if that makes a difference.

How high is too high? I also have a high cervix I believe, but I still want to be able to grab the cup.

Hi, friend! Thanks for your comment. Yes, I used each for one cycle so far, and I've heard that it can take a few cycles to get the hang of all of this. I'm going to keep trying with my Lunette and Si-Bell because they are such nice cups and I would like to make them work. My light days are pretty light, so I figured I could practice with them some more then. Leaking on heavier days is really frustrating, but the the pressure should be off a little bit on my lighter days. They may be better suited for light days anyway.

Hey, pandemon_ium, I accidentally deleted your second comment! I was trying to delete the message from my inbox and clicked the wrong thing. Sorry about that! Apparently there is a learning curve with using LiveJournal, too! :D

I saw, though, that you said something to the effect that it's good to practice on light days, but to be aware that lighter days may mean less leaking anyway. I will keep that in mind. Thanks for the advice!

Edited to add:
I got an email notification of your comment, too. Here is the original reply: "Definitely start with the light days--but also be aware that you may not leak as much on light days, either. But, definitely, one step at a time!"

So sorry about deleting it!

My guess, since it sounds like the lg Diva didn't leak, your current cups may just be too small. Not that age is a deciding factor, but I began using cups at 36 yrs and the small sizes always leaked.

Btw, you can recoup some of the expenditures by reselling on http://mc-sales.livejournal.com

Thanks, trejoy! I don't remember my Diva cup leaking, so I am wondering, too, if the small cups are just too small for me. I was looking at the larger Lunette model 2 to see if it might be a better fit. Since it's firmer than the small, I wonder if maybe it would be good for sports, too. I thought it was interesting that Lunette recommends the smaller, softer model 1 for sports, as I would have thought that firmer cups would be better for physical activities?

Do you still have your Diva? Now that you have more experience, you might find it easier to use. But before you do, try enlarging the anti-suction holes around the rim. They help with popping open and with removal -- both of which you seem to have had trouble with. More helpful hints at http://kuradi8.livejournal.com/

Hi, kuradi! Thanks for all of the tips. I don't have my Diva cup anymore. I kinda wish I had hung on to it now, but I got rid of it when we moved.

When is the cup leaking? Right away? After a few hours?

It usually starts pretty soon after inserting, although a couple of times I've gone an hour or two before it starts noticeably leaking. I check as best as I can to make sure the cup is open, but I'm sure my technique could use some finesse.

I'm actually having success with my Lunette right now and it's been about 4 1/2 hours since I put it in. It took some fiddling around, but I must have finally done something right. No major leaks, maybe just a bit of residual slobber. Today is a lighter day, too, so maybe that has something to do with it.
