After my first cycle using a menstrual cup I noticed a smell also. I decided to soak mine in vinegar and it ended up smelling funny + vinegary.

Then I tried boiling it and that seemed to make the smells diminish a bit, but not completely.

I ended up just leaving it out in the open for a few days and all the smells were gone. I guess you can just try to let it air out for a week or something.

Leave it out in the open air, sunshine if possible. Chlorine evaporates -- as will its residue.

I agree, it should disappear if you leave it out to air, by your next period. I find peroxide makes a good soak. Half peroxide half water and no smell once you rinse (buy the 3% solution).
