I entered to giveaway because I was curious. But does anyone know why the lily cup is so... lily-shaped? They're advertising the fact that you can fold it as small as a tampon, which I guess is an advantage, but why the heck is it so long? And taller on one side than the other? Does it matter which way it's facing when you put it in?

As for the new collapsable version on kickstarter, I'm intrigued, but my first thought is that it's not even that much more portable than a standard cup. I'd be wary of storing it folded up in plastic container in case you've trapped moisture in it. And a regular cup in a cotton bag is almost as easy to put in your backpack or purse.

I used a Lily for some months before getting my Si-Bell. Yes, you can roll it as small as a tampon but good luck getting it to pop open that way (it is about on par with the Si-Bell in softness)...half-diamond fold or 7-fold worked best for me. And yes, you're supposed to insert it with the longer (back) side down, since it will lie along the back of the vag and (it's thought) hug the area of the cervix better. Generally, I liked it, but I have a VERY high cervix and even I had to trim a notch off the stem. What started happening later was that my cervix began to dangle sometimes, particularly at the end of my period, and apparently my cervix and the diameter of the cup's inner lip are exactly matched such that my cervix was getting strangled by the cup and causing some mild cramping. This is probably a one in a million match, though. I did like how the lack of suction holes allowed me to overflow the cup (rather than it leaking, blood would just back up inside) when it wasn't a good time to change it.
