It's nearly Halloween~ Isn't it exciting? I've never really celebrated the holiday before. IS there anything special we need to do?

I know that people in America  dress up in costumes for the day.  Candies and pumpkin pies are involved as well. Do the candies drive spirits away? Are we supposed to throw the pies? It seems terrible to waste a ( Read more... )

W-woah, you know about me, sir?

[Actual celebrations don't start until the next century for this kid, so he's just confused.]

Um...are you talking about All-Hallows-Eve...? I don't dress up...

Of course, we learned a bit about the history of America in geography.

[So, they're same boat]

All Hallows Eve? It's that what's called? I've only know what I heard from a few of my teachers.

Yes, we did. We were going to cover a bit more about American History this week in class.

[He nods]

Well, I heard that you supposed to celebrate it with costume and candy...At least, I think so...

[Heather actually knows a little about Halloween's history-- she used to be kind of into that sort of thing. And it helped having a research-geek author for a dad.]

Actually, the costumes are what're supposed to drive the spirits away. You put on scary masks and march around in the night and the spooks won't touch you.

The candy's just a bonus!

[He listens intently at the explanation before flailing at hearing the reason behind costumes. He looks a little scared]

Oh! S-so that's why they wear c-costumes...To ward away spirits...

But, how is the candy given out?

Well, you go from door to door, and the people in the houses are supposed to give you candy.

... And if they DON'T, that's when it gets serious.

There are many reasons as to why--mostly that wearing costumes make you blend in with the spirits and demons that lurk around or that the costumes scare them away, but it has been exaggerated or forgotten from what I remember... to the point where children only know that costumes will get them candy. [ He doesn't get it since, well, he burns pictures to please the spirits. ]

Free candy is always great.

Either things sounds a bit...scary. But, the idea of wearing a costume does seem fun!

Yes, it is. I wonder if they will give out free candy here?

I guess if you're into that kind of thing.

Mm, it depends on if they celebrate it themselves.

Well, the only way to know is to ask the residents here...It would be fun if they did celebrate it. They may celebrate it differently.

All night? That doesn't seem to bad. Best places? Why is that important?

[Akira has no clue about the hard work that goes into Trick or Treating]

[Oh, look - a face Fay recognizes! Of course, he doesn't assume that this Akira is the same as the one he met in Piffle, so he's just gonna play friendly. May as well make nice with all the similar people from different worlds!]

I can't say I've celebrated it before, but it does sound like quite a bit of fun!

[Not to mention, this one is a wee bit younger than the one you meet. Nonetheless, he doesn't mind friendly people]

Ive been told originally you dressed in costume to scare or drive evil spirits away...But, now you dress up and go house to house for candy...I wonder what else they practice.

It's does seen quite fun...I hope they celebrate it here.

[There's that too, but minor details like that are minor!]

I see! It's certainly an interesting custom. I've never been anywhere that celebrates such a holiday, after all~ But seeing as it's now so close, from what I'm told, I guess we'll find out soon enough!

[True. After all, such a minor detail can be ignored]

I know they celebrate it in other countries. Yes, it's rather exciting! I wonder what they might have planned!
