So you don't have to read the tl;dr behind the cuts, but PLEASE do fill out the poll! I'm always interested to gab about how others hone their writing skills.

Fic meta about the drabbles... )

links! my god the links!, polls, waxing intellectual, meta, writing, wool-gathering

you're awesome - thanks for the insight!

can you come beat me over the head with some of that?

i signed up for a fic challenge, thinking it would prompt me to write, and all it's done is scared me under the bed.

I write press releases and pitches all day long, and I do consider that "writing", though LJ people don't. Heh. But it does require a lot of creativity, which I lack in spades, so I have to work really hard at it. The best way for ME to beat writer's block is to throw it over to a teammate and make them polish on it for awhile. Someone else fixing what I can't jumps me over the problem. If that makes sense. But that's more the nature of business than...pleasure?

Well, I work as a translator, translating fantasy books from English into Czech - right now, I'm working on Hendee's "Rebel Fay" - so you can say that that's where most of my creativity goes to. In the evening, when I'm done with translating, I feel like a limp dish-towel, no writing energy whatsoever :D
